If you're traveling from Gili Trawangan to Gili Air, you'll need to head to the east side of the island to find the boat and get your ticket.
Here's the exact location 👇🏻
I'll go into details down below, so keep reading.
Boat ticket office
Even though it's marked on the map, some people find it challenging to locate the ticket office. This is mainly because it doesn't face the street but rather the sea.
So, here are some pictures that might help you recognize the building.
Please note that this is not situated on the jetty where you first arrived on the island, it's a bit to the north of the jetty.
Boat types & ticket price
There are three types of boats to choose from: public boats, fast boats, and speed boats. Here's what they look like.
- Public boat: A traditional boat that is equipped with motor engines, it's pretty spacious.
- Fast boat: Literally like a bus or plane so you don’t have to sit face-to-face with other passengers, but it's cramped.
- Speed boat: A private boat that can take you to the Gili islands anytime you want.
Each one comes with a different price:
Destination | Public boat | Fast boat | Speed boat |
---|---|---|---|
Gili Meno | Rp 18,000 | Rp 85,000 | Rp 300,000 |
Gili Air | Rp 21,000 | Rp 85,000 | Rp 350,000 |
Lombok | Rp 23,000 | Rp 85,000 | Rp 400,000 |
Most people take the public boat because it's the cheapest, spacious, and doesn't have a specific departure time to wait for.
Departures & travel time
Departures:
- Public boat: Once it's full with 40 people or after a certain amount of time.
- Fast boat: 11.00 am • 12.00 pm • 02.00 pm • 03.00 pm.
- Speed boat: Any time.
Travel time:
- Public boat: 20 minutes
- Fast boat: 15 minutes
- Speed boat: 10 minutes
I've found that the public boat gets you to Gili Air faster than the fast boat.
This is because fast boats have to make a stop at Gili Meno before proceeding to Gili Air, which takes up a considerable amount of time.
Be safe and have a nice trip!
